Unravel Me by Tahereh Mafi - Thoughts

Unravel Me - Tahereh Mafi

So, this is not going to be an actual review. As you can tell by my rating I disliked this book very much and if I wrote a review, it would only be me tearing this book apart. I still believe that every author put hard work into their books so I do not want to belittle the effort. I rather dislike the book and be quiet than rage about a book.

Since it is so many readers’ favorite series I want to mention what I did not like about Unravel Me. What has not changed from the first book is my indifference to the writing style. It just does not appeal to me at all. It makes me roll my eyes and cringe so often. And when the eye-rolling starts with the very first sentence of a book, it is a no-brainer that I do not like Mafi’s writing.

But I knew that and still, I enjoyed the first book more than I enjoyed this book. Why?

Well, in Shatter Me I got pulled in by the story. Unfortunately, this time I could not care less about what was going on. I was so bored. I also disliked the inconsistency of the characters. They acted all tough one second and were whiny, scared little kids the next. Worst for me was, though, how they talked. I was rolling my eyes so much that I got headaches.

I will not pick up the next book. Time is just too precious for me. I do not know why people love this series so much and maybe some of you will let me know, why. I might have enjoyed this 10-13 years ago when I was in my teens but as it is the Shatter Me series fell flat for me.
