This book is absolutely amazing!

I have been debating with myself for over a year now if I should read this book or not. The synopsis sounded really promising but the book is huge and I have so little time that I was not sure if I wanted to start this book. In the end I compromised: I listed to the audiobook.

Unfortunately, the audiobook is a shortened reading of the book. I was trying to figure out which scenes seemed to be shortened or if there might have been a gap between one chapter and the next. I honestly could not tell for the most part. There were very few times at the beginning that I thought that something was left out.

The story starts during this decade when the US military tries to use a virus to create super-soldiers. No surprise that goes completely wrong and instead they created zombie-like beings. The main part (that will also continue in the next books) plays in the future where almost everyone has turned into a “zombie” and there are only few survivors.

I highly recommend this book/series if you enjoy apocalyptic books. This book is so gripping and nerve-wrecking. The writing flows easily and the characters grow on you quickly. A five-star read! I cannot wait for the next book to come out as an audiobook.
