Okay, so I’m a little bit late. Oops. But this week’s topic is “Favorite Couples”. It was kind of difficult for me to find five couples. Not because there aren’t enough but because I am usually not that happy with them. I like reading about different love stories but lately it seems all the love stories start with insta-love. I hate that. Where is the slow build-up? So I chose my five favorite couples but it could have been many others as well.

CAVE: Might contain spoilers!

5. Kitty & Benjy (from The Blackcoat Rebellion series)

I can’t say too much about this couple yet, since I have only read the first book, but I like this couple so far. It is preexisting and they are very dedicated to each other. I hope they stay together but I fear it will become a love triangle (like it always does lately).

4. Cath & Levi (from Fangirl)

I thought long and hard if I would place them in my Top 5. I love their relationship and I love the fact that it took a while for them to become a couple. It is cute how their relationship changes and how they fall in love. But I can’t necessarily say that their relationship is outstanding to me.

3. Hermione & Ron (from the Harry Potter series)

Hermione and Ron is a difficult pairing for me. I almost like their friendship better than their love relationship. It helps that they stayed true to their characters even though the dynamic changes. That makes them almost my favorite couple. They are fun and cute and absolutely adorable.

2. Magnus & Alec (from The Mortal Instrument series)

I absolutely love Magnus and Alec’s relationship. It was one of the reasons why I kept reading the whole series. The fact that they are so different in character, experience, and in their standing in life makes the relationship so much more interesting. I love their antics and the fact that not everything is always easy-peasy. They still love each other and always try to protect each other.

1. Katniss & Peeta (from The Hunger Games series)

This relationship had my feelings going up and down like a rollercoaster. At the end of book 1 I felt my heart break for Peeta. And I agree with the quote from the movies: “Not in a 1000 lifetimes does [Katniss] deserve him.” Peeta is so much better than her and his feelings are so much more pure. But with the change of the third book the whole situation changes. I think Katniss redeemed herself and the way she fought for Peeta was admirable. So by the end of book three they actually became my favorite couple.

What is your favorite couple? What do you like in a love relationship in a book?
