"Many people, myself among them, feel better at the mere sight of a book.”
Jane Smiley
Angels in the Snow by Matt de la Pena
When I started reading this story I didn’t think I would like it as much as I ended up doing. For some reason I didn’t get into the story at the beginning. I didn’t care for the story of the poor half-Mexican guy and the rich white girl (how cliché) but as the story progressed and I learned more about the story (especially Shy) I started to really like them. But what made this story special to me was the Christmas feeling it conveyed. Being snowed in without thousand people surrounding you but also warm and happy family gatherings is what I connect with Christmas. So this got all the stars in the Christmas and some stars in the character department.
